Puppet School

"PUPPETRY, ....A CURE FOR THE ILLS OF A CIVILIZATION."   Rudolf Steiner

The Pacific Northwest School Of Puppetry (founded June, 2001) is a three year, hands-on, certificate training focusing on 5-string silk Marionettes and glove puppetry with some simple added shadow work. The training is year round, a new year starts in January each year.

In the first year, each quarter ends with a marionette performance. In the second year glove puppets are added and there can be up to three glove puppet performances that year as well as marionette performances. In the third year, along with the work that is done each quarter as a group, the third year is when you complete your 'master work' ,--- It is what has been born and now lives in your heart and soul that you would like to bring as a dramatic gift of goodness, beauty and truth to the community?

Each quarter is filled with creating, reading, writing, discussion rehearsals and performing. By the end of two years you will have completed two marionettes, one small and one large, plus one glove puppet and a needle felted animal puppet with simple crossbars. You will have gone through at least twenty two performances.

This is work, but it is also play, that is very satisfying because it brings soul nourishing images of  goodness, beauty, and truth creating health and joy in one's life and in the lives of all the children and adults who are fortunate enough to become a witnessing audience. This is truly a process of helping to establish a healthy soul-life within the community.

TUITION for 2010: $200 each quarter (books & supplies, extra)  First Quarter starts July 10th. Call: 206-524-2561
